Our Mission
Feed a Dog, our mission is simple yet profound: to provide nourishment, care, and compassion to stray dogs across India. We operate in all major cities, feeding thousands of stray dogs every day, and ensuring they receive the love and attention they deserve.
What We Do?
Feeding Initiatives
We feed strays at over 700 locations daily, providing nutritious meals that include soy nuggets, eggs, milk, rusk, bread, and biscuits.
Rescue and Rehabilitation
Our team rescues injured, abandoned, sick, pregnant, and orphaned dogs. We provide medical treatment and rehabilitation to ensure their recovery.
24-Hour Helpline
We operate a dedicated animal helpline and ambulance service across six major cities to assist dogs in need. Our trained volunteers are available around the clock to respond to emergencies, whether it’s rescuing an injured dog from the streets or providing immediate medical care
Dedicated Shelters
We maintain three shelters specifically designed for dogs, where they receive comprehensive care and attention. These shelters provide a safe haven for rescued dogs, offering them not only food and medical treatment but also a loving environment where they can recover and thrive.
Adoption Drives
we actively work to find forever homes for our furry friends through social media posts and online campaigns. By showcasing their stories and personalities through engaging content, we connect potential adopters with dogs in need of loving homes.
Community Engagement Programs
actively engage with local communities through outreach initiatives that promote responsible pet ownership, including spaying/neutering programs. By educating pet owners about the importance of controlling the stray population and caring for their pets, we aim to foster a culture of empathy towards all animals.
A Rich History
Ancient Egypt: Dogs were revered in ancient Egyptian culture, often depicted in art and buried alongside their owners. Anubis, the god of the afterlife, is famously represented as a canine figure, showcasing the deep respect for dogs in this civilization.
Tibetan Culture: In Tibetan beliefs, dogs are seen as close companions to humans in the cycle of reincarnation and are honored as guardians of temples.
Vedic Tradition: In Vedic texts, deities like Indra are frequently illustrated with their canine companions, reflecting the esteemed status of dogs in these ancient narratives.
Despite their historical significance, modern street dogs face severe challenges due to urbanization and neglect. This plight has led to numerous initiatives aimed at their protection and care.
